On this rainy Monday, I wanted to share Maddie’s urban/edgy and boho/natural senior shoot! I love that this senior session has two different styles represented because it shows that we can do really ANYTHING on your senior shoot! Maddie told me that she couldn’t decide which kind of style to go for with her pictures – either soft and ethereal, or a little more trendy and grungy – so I suggested we do both!
We started out literally in a pile of rocks. I had passed by this empty warehouse with beautiful glass doors, white walls, and white rocks, and knew I needed to keep it in mind for a future photo shoot. It was the perfect backdrop for Maddie’s first outfit, a black and white, 90’s inspired look! The glass doors became a sort of mirror and it was so fun for me to play with because it created a reflection of Maddie. Her best friend Liv was with us for the whole shoot, and I had her hop in a couple pictures, which ended up being some of my favorites. Her mirrored sunglasses looked so awesome with Maddie’s style. And Liv brought out a light, carefree spirit in Maddie! I love the pictures of the two of them; they are so happy, and I just picture them being framed in each other’s dorm rooms when they go away to college!
Then, we shot two more outfits in a fielded area. I love this lush green corner we found, with blooming white flowers, and sun bursting through the limbs of the trees. Maddie’s last outfit has to be my favorite. I love this two-piece trend, and the long, light fabric she wore in the tall field. Pro tip – when a big gust of wind comes, prepare your client to USE IT because it will go away quickly, and it produces the most dynamic, emotional photos. I tell my clients that when the wind comes to go with it, and let it blow their hair in whatever direction it likes. If you don’t say this, your client might make funny faces as they keep the wind out of their face. Instead, encourage them to have fun with the wind and lean into the wind.
Seniors, remember that we can display all different sides of your style during your high school senior pictures, whether that’s an urban/edgy and boho/natural senior shoot, or something completely different.
