I was so eager to get Grace’s edgy senior pictures in Downtown Orlando on the blog today! I LOVE these images so much. Grace is so confident and WORKING IT in these shots! I know you’ll agree, so please scroll through them below.
Before Grace’s senior pictures, she described her style as “edgy boho.” She sent me pictures of her outfits for the shoot and I knew I needed to find a gritty, urban backdrop to pair with her ripped jeans and band tank. I talked to some friends that work downtown, and ended up finding the perfect empty lot, with a royal blue door and a burnt orange wall. I also had been wanting to shoot in front of my favorite mural in downtown Orlando. This mural is a massive display of splashing ocean waves; it’s pretty awesome to say the least :) Grace’s flowing black dress was the perfect outfit to match the mural.
What I love most about Grace’s senior pictures is the confidence she exudes. It made so much sense to pose in front of this raw, gritty backdrop because that’s how Grace is! She was very genuine and bold, and that’s the story these pictures tell. Stylistically, I love how much this shoot just made sense. I ask for pictures of my senior’s outfits beforehand so that I can help them choose locations that match with their outfits. I wouldn’t want to place Grace in her denim and black tack in the middle of a field. Nor would I want to put a girl in a long, flowy pink dress in this urban setting. So, I love that Grace had an actual vision in mind for her senior pictures. Her band tank and fringed booties next to exposed wires, broken concrete, and paint-chipped stairwell made my photography eyes light up! Thank you Grace, for inviting me into your vision for your senior portraits.
